Chen Alon
Chen Alon is an activist and veteran theater director who founded the Holot Theater. The theater is a groundbreaking initiative, a project of Chen Alon and Avi Mograbi, it was created to respond to a need for activism around the Holot Detention Center in 2013. After six months of weekly meetings at the detention center, the group presented its first performance. The group experimented with different techniques drawn from Brazilian director and philosopher Augosto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed. The goal was to process personal and social issues connected to the lives of refugees in Israel.
