Rana Abu-Fraiha

“I see film as a powerful tool to inspire significant social dialogue and to give voice to those who do not receive a platform in public discourse.”

Rana Abu-Fraiha

Rana Abu-Fariha is an Israeli filmmaker from a half-Bedouin, half-Palestinian family who has spent the last three years exploring Israel and the world with her film “In Her Footsteps.” The film documents her family’s life living in the Jewish community of Omer, near Be’er Sheva. Abu-Fraiha sees film as a powerful tool that can inspire significant social dialogue and provide a platform for voices not heard in the public sphere. She gives workshops to children, youth and adults, helping them discover film as a therapeutic tool and a door that can open political and social conversations. Abu-Fariha’s films have won a host of prizes around the world. She was chosen as one of Forbes “30 Under 30” most promising young men and women of 2019.
